2026 Sideline cheer season
Welcome to Mesa Verde Junior Mavericks Cheer!
Our cheer program is dedicated to building confidence, teamwork, and strong fundamentals in a fun, supportive environment. We provide young athletes the opportunity to grow as performers, teammates, and leaders while representing our community with pride.
The Mesa Verde Junior Mavericks are proud to be a member of the Sierra Athletic Conference (SAC), giving our athletes the chance to participate in a competitive and positive youth sports league.
We’re excited to welcome new and returning cheerleaders to the Mavericks family!

We do not cut athletes; however, teams are limited to 35 participants to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
*Any cheerleader who is 15 on or prior to August 31 of the current season will not be allowed to participate.

Practices are held at Mesa Verde High School located at 7501 Carriage Dr., Citrus Heights, CA 95621
EXPECTATIONS
Commitment:
- July 13 - September 4: Practice will be held Monday - Friday, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
- September 8 - October 2: Practice will be held Tuesday - Thursday, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
- Practices may decrease to 2 days a week at the coach's discretion
- October 5 - November 13: Coaches may opt to increase practice to 4 days a week to prepare for competition
*Mascot practices will vary based on coaches' discretion

- JAMZ Competition: TBD
Attire:
- Each cheerleader will be provided practice shirts and given a dress schedule at the start of the season
- Hair must be pulled back prior to the start of practice.
- Nails cannot be visible beyond the end of the fingers when viewed from the palm side of the hand.
- No false nails
- No nail polish
- NO jewelry or any kind (be mindful of new piercing timing)
- No facial or body piercing
- No band aids or taping over piercings

Required Documentation
The following items will be collected at a later date:
- Copy of Birth Certificate (no originals will be accepted)
- SAC Medical Clearance Form dated after April 15, 2026 (this form can be found in our documents section)
- Signed Code of Conduct
- Most recent current years report card (ages 13 and above only)
- A headshot photo will be taken for athlete's player card
