- Cleanliness: Athletes should shower with soap and water as soon as possible after each practice or competition.
- Clean Clothing: Wrestling singlets, practice clothing, and other washable gear must be cleaned after each use.
- Wrestling Shoes: Wrestling shoes must be clean and should not be worn outdoors.
- Personal Items: Athletes should not share towels, water bottles, clothing, or personal hygiene products.
Skin Health & Illness
- Skin Checks: Athletes may be required to undergo skin checks before practices and competitions.
- Skin Infections: Any suspicious rash, open sore, or possible skin infection must be reported to a coach immediately. Athletes with suspected contagious skin conditions may not participate until medically cleared in accordance with applicable wrestling rules.
- Open Wounds: Cuts and abrasions must be properly cleaned and covered before participation. Athletes with wounds that cannot be safely covered may be restricted from participating.
- Illness: Athletes experiencing fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or other symptoms of a contagious illness should remain home until they are well enough to safely return.
Practice & Competition Safety
- Proper Equipment: Athletes must wear appropriate wrestling attire and clean wrestling shoes. Wrestling headgear is optional but recommended for additional ear protection. Headgear may be required at certain competitions depending on event rules.
- Coach Instructions: All wrestlers must follow coaching instructions and practice proper wrestling techniques.
- Respect & Sportsmanship: Unsafe behavior, intentional roughness, bullying, and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
- Injuries: Athletes must immediately report injuries, dizziness, or any pain that could affect their ability to participate safely.
- Mat Safety: Athletes must follow all mat rules and may only participate in wrestling activities under authorized supervision.
Failure to follow hygiene and safety requirements may result in an athlete being temporarily restricted from participation until the concern has been resolved.
Our goal is to provide a positive wrestling experience while protecting the health and safety of every athlete.
